Frequently Asked Questions

Why should we have our wedding filmed?

Many people have commented to me that they regret not having had their wedding filmed by a professional videographer.  Similarly, many brides who have used a videographer say that when they watch the film again, they see so many things that they missed on the day, such as peoples reactions to seeing them enter the church or their nervous husband to be waiting on her arrival.  A photographer captures individual moments, but a videographer captures the sounds and emotions as well.  A DVD of your wedding day will keep forever, and never fade.

Won't the cameraman be obtusive and disruptive?

I have heard horror stories of bright lights during the ceremony and cameramen bustling guests out of their way. As stated in our opening line, we are known for being unobtrusive, and from the outset, this has been our main aim.  We want your film to be as natural as possible and so we take care when placing our equipment so that we can capture the moments without getting in the way.  When possible, we visit the locations beforehand to select the best positions for the camera, and to check the lighting and sound levels.  This allows us to get the best shots without any fuss on the day.
We also have radio microphones available to use during the ceremony.  This can be discretely placed on the groom or celebrant so that the vows can be clearly heard on your dvd. Don't worry if you speak quietly, because we can increase sound levels for the bride or groom and reduce the levels on the celebrant so that the finished result is well balanced and clear.

What should I look for in a professional video?

You are looking an honest record of your wedding day, and so special effects should be kept to a minimum, the picture and sound quality should be clear and the titles should look professional.  Your videographer should be using professional equipment, such as 3 chip cameras and industry standard editing software.  They should also have high quality microphones, tripods and backup equipment.  If you choose carpe diem to film your day, you can expect us to be friendly and approachable.  We welcome your input into the final product and will accomodate any special requests where possible.

Are there any restrictions when filming in certain venues?

It is your responsibility to obtain permission from the person who will be marrying you, as to whether we can film at the venue.  Many venues have guidelines for filming and we must be aware of these well in advance.
